He will return in 2014.

Welcome to the Han Dynastory!

As I am now serving a full-time mission with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I have left this blog under the stewardship of a family member, who may post updates on how I'm doing as he/she sees fit.

Reunion at a Barbeque

Last Thursday evening (last year's) J3B had a BBQ reunion at Zhi Quan's house. Okay, officially Zhi Quan was not from our class (although he's my classmate right now) but he's so close to so many of our guys that we treat him as one of us.

So... that evening about 36 of us showed up at his place. He lives in a condo and apparently was able to book some BBQ pits. Nice.

I got there a little overdressed.. as usual. It was so funny when they all stared at me. No, I wasn't wearing a suit. I was wearing one of our old Class T-shirts (the one my teacher designed that had my comic strip character on the back) and my black long sleeved shirt over it, and black slacks. Dark. Yeah, I remembered to add in the necklace too. Getting weird looks from friends is one of my hobbies.

Anyway, at the beginning when the sun was still up I took lots of pictures

Zhan Hao and Kiah Wei trying to get the fire going

Fang Soe getting the fire started somewhere else

The beginning of the fire

The food spread across our table
There I was drifting around. Talking to old friends... well... we've only been away from each other like, a few months... and we still see each other at school.... but... you get the point.

Funnily enough I seem to enjoy taking pictures of Zhan Hao...

Zhan Hao eating

Now the fire's beginning to go!
At one point some jokers went up to the parking lot and started making a lot of noise. And I mean a lot. Due to the fact that parking lots are known for the echo you can get there...... a Jaga (guard) went up there and scolded them. Yeah... L King was one of them. But apparently it was Fatty who made the most noise. D'oh!

Those guys were making so much noise at the parking lot up there the Jaga went up there and scolded them
Before long Fang Soe (whose chickenpox scars are still visible) was able to get a decent fire going and we began the actual Barbeque!

uh oh... posting pictures about food is only going to make me hungry!
After a while I got lazy over photographing because you know there's...

Hao Ran! Master photographer photographing away.... as usual
Okay, I'm not that lazy

Look at Liah's (in brown) funny face.
After a while 2816 finally came along with FuLiZi and Jia Cheng (they went to Chern Hui's house to get dressed)

2816 talking to some of the girls
Suddenly a bunch of guys wanted to take their group picture

This is what happens when you forget to turn the flash off

This is when you don't

-1 blocking Hao Ran who was trying to take a picture

Okay, he leaves but they're not quite ready yet

There they go
We suddenly ran out of drinks and charcoal so 2816 drove me, Zhi Quan and Hui Yee to a nearby store to buy the stuff. They bought Shandy for drinks. D'oh! It just happens I'm not supposed to/don't want to take alchohol.

Oh well. Dehydration can't be that all bad...

Some of the guys at the drain... drinking Shandy
Well, that was about the last picture I took. After that me, -1, Chern Hui and Jia Cheng decided to go for a swim. I was the only one who brought swimming trunks, however. Just as Chern Hui and -1 were about to jump in wearing their cargoes one of the Jagas came and told them they can only wear either swimming trunks or underwear. You probably know what they ended up doing

We jumped in and basically had a blast. Before long Kiah Wei came along and jumped in. The Jaga wasn't around so he didn't have to strip down to his underwear... then came a bunch of other guys including Hao Ran. Hao Ran was photographing at first and he got a little daring.... he waded at the border between the jacoozi and the pool and took a few shots. If you know Kiah Wei long enough you'll know what he did. He pushed Hao Ran in.

Thank goodness it was only a jacoozi. His camera didn't get wet. But since he was all wet anyway he handed to the camera to some one, took off his shirt, jumped in, then took off his pants. What fun.

After a while more and more guys came to join us. Until one girl, Kar Yeng thought it would be fun to join us as well, but she wanted some other girls to join her first. Fat chance. One of the guys pushed her in.

Of course, you can't expect her to be swimming around in her underwear so she just stayed in the water and hoped the Jaga wasn't around...

Soon the party seemed to have shifted to the poolside and a whole bunch of guys and girls came over. They even remembered to bring some Sparkling Juice!

We were sharing 2 bottles of Sparkling Juice.

After a while the girls thought it would be exciting to join us in the pool and one by one, they started jumping in.

So there we were, making lots of noise. 2816 came and I finally had a chance to show her my somersault! Yay.

We had a few chicken fights in the pool, and I won every match (I teamed up with Kiah Wei, so I was the foundation and he was on top). It was loads of fun. After that Yung Hui wanted to ride on my shoulders as well. She was up there squeling with joy which of course, attracted Chern Hui. As in, he couldn't resist pushing me off balance, which he succeeded in doing. Who would've thought Yung Hui was that heavy XP

After that she asked me to escort her to the other side of the pool. We used different types of swimming strokes to get there and when we tried the backstroke my hands kept smacking against her left foot. D'oh!

When we got to the other side we were rewarded with a cup of H2OH! We shared a cup. It tastes just like ordinary tonic, except it's less bitter. Not something I'd buy considering the crazy price.

The rest of the night was mostly a blur. I was floating around watching the guys splashing water at the girls, Ralfz half drunk but still going, more and more guys stripping down to their underwear, girls screaming when somebody forgot what he was wearing and came out of the pool, guys showing off their diving skills, Zhan Hao playing "Great White Shark", and some guys teaching Chern Hui how to swim. Oh man I wish there was a way to film all of that. But everyone was having too much fun to bother. Oh well.

Before long about 3 Jagas came over looking very displeased. We were making too much noise and not everybody was wearing swimming trunks/underwear (thanks to the girls). So... you know what we did.

Yeah, we still splashed about a bit. But the party was ruined. Apparently the Jagas "had a talk" with our teacher and she quietly slipped back to the BBQ area. One by one we came out of the pool and got dressed. I hadn't even eaten yet. Aaaah... that was a great day... the next day we were back in school celebrating Chinese New Year. I was so groggy in the morning I can't believe I actually made it to school.

Ahhh.... great memories never end

No, seriously. Life is becoming more and more monotonous in a sense that I'm having too much fun in the Science Stream that I don't realise I'm having so much fun anymore.

Last night was Grandpa's birthday and he had a big party to celebrate. My cousins from Penang came with their children and I got to meet my nephews again.

My nephew Jiang and I talked the whole night with another nephew. Jiang is a year younger than me and is currently studying in MBS. We exchanged various experiences within our schools and stuff. It was quite fun.

While we were getting another round of drinks he commented (and I had the same thought at that time) that how much we've changed. Last time when we were younger we used to run around with the toy guns Grandpa used to buy for us whenever we went to his house for a party. Now that's what Ray and my other nephew does. Jiang and his cousin (who is also my nephew but i can't remember his name) just sat there with me in the backyard and we talked and ate and talked and ate. I guess that's how much we've 'grown up'

The Prank Boy

I've really blew it this time.

For the past 9 years of schooling, I've always given good first impressions on all my teachers. Only later they find out I'm actually another one of those clowns in class. But they're okay because they know that I'm actually still a good student.

Well, not anymore in our new English Centre.

My teacher took one look at my student number (it's on my school badge) and remembered me as the "Prank Boy"

Why? Just look at some of the examples of questions me and a group of friends made (it was part of the program to split into groups of four and come up with questions using certain words and stuff)

  • What's your favorite... animal? (this was the only normal question we wrote)
  • Have you ever... listened to the English teachers?
  • Where do you usually... relieve yourself?
  • Are you... socially adapted to members of the opposite sex? (my teacher barely knew what I meant)
  • Do you have... the ability to understand concepts? (Lemon came up with this)
  • How old... is your English teacher?
  • What are you going to... do when you're caught sleeping in class?
  • When did you... last reflect upon the sins of the world?
  • Do you think you'll... be able to answer this question?
  • Would you like to... verify your sanity?
  • Do you possess depth perception?
  • Do you believe that mankind is a retrogressive race and your brains are decaying as we speak? (Lemon came up with this ultimate question that nobody understood including the teacher)

I guess I deserve being called the Prank Boy

First 5 Days in the Science Stream

It's back to school again and I've made it in to Senior One Science One. There have been many great changes in the school, particularly the way they're going to teach English from now on. Anyway, just an update of what's happened to my friends.

Apart from Zi Xian, who was unfortunate enough to end up in S1S2 (where our previous class teacher is now teaching) the rest of my gang is in the same class as I am. I couldn't ask for more.
The teachers I've gotten so far are quite a nice bunch, especially my new class teacher. We haven't come up with a nickname for him yet but I'm sure we're going to have one for him soon muahahahaha.

The new English classes are particularly interesting. Throughout its years our school has seen crushing failures of straight A students who graduated from our school and couldn't get into big time Universities simply because they had failed the interview (couldn't speak English properly). The school finally decided it was high time they started a new 'English Centre' where the whole building would be dedicated to the learning of English. First of all, they got enough money to renovate the school hostel. After finding a nearby building hostel students could stay in, they started the construction last year. Next they had all the English teacher change the way they teach English.

And now... the English teachers wait in their classrooms in the English Centre as the students split into assigned groups to go to their own classes. The atmosphere is entirely different! The teachers are a lot more open and relaxed. They encourage us to have fun interacting with each other during class. Of course, we're only allowed to speak in English within the Centre. I could live with that. In fact I wish it was the same for every other class. But then, I might as well go to an International school...

This Is Why I Think Crazy Soccer Fans Are Morons (Just Kidding)

Johann posted this at the Friendster bulletin board. I thought it was hilarious.

WIFE's DIARY :Sunday night - I thought he was acting weird. We had made plans to meet at a cafe to have some coffee. I was shopping with my friends all day long, so I thought he was upset at the fact that I was a bit late, but he made no comment. Conversation wasn't flowing so I suggested that we go somewhere quiet so we could talk, he agreed but he kept quiet and absent. I asked him what was wrong - he said, "Nothing." I asked him if it was my fault that he was upset. He said it had nothing to do with me and not to worry. On the way home I told him that I loved him, he simply smiled and kept driving. I can't explain his behavior; I don't know why he didn't say, "I love u, too." When we got home I felt as if I had lost him, as if he wanted nothing to do with me anymore. He just sat there and watched TV; he seemed distant and absent. Finally I decided to go to bed. About 10 minutes later he came to bed. I decided that I could not take it anymore, so I decided to confront him with the situation but he had fallen asleep. I started crying and cried until I too fell asleep. I don't know what to do. I'm almost sure that his thoughts are with someone else. My life is a disaster.

HUSBAND's DIARY :Today liverpool lost the match. DAMN IT..!!
